Meet Your Authors:


Gina Hernandez


Gina Hernandez is the Executive Director of ChildWIN. She has a license in Counseling, is a Certified Infant Massage Instructor, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and also holds a Certificate in Play Therapy. Gina also holds a Post Masters Certificate in Trauma: Clinical Foundations and am the co-developer of the Healing Hearts & Building Resilience trauma training series for ChildWIN. Gina co-created the Trauma Transformation Initiative, which has been featured nationally as an innovative and research based approach to changing the lens we have when working with children. Gina works in schools throughout New Jersey and beyond to help educators recognize and respond to trauma in students in a way that builds resilience and creates more positive connections. Gina works in the classroom with students to promote “Peaceful Practices” to help them learn to breathe, focus and regulate their emotions. Gina is also a child therapist working in Ewing, NJ and is the proud parent/guardian of 4 children. 

Jennifer Hammer


Jennifer Hammer is a survivor expert with 10 years’ experience as an advocate for victims of all forms of human trafficking. Throughout her career in nonprofit work, she has spent the majority of her time partnering with agencies to end commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) and gender based violence. Jennifer has created curricula, mentored at-risk youth and independently consulted with: survivor led organizations, clinicians, law enforcement, therapists, medical professionals, schools, ACS, DCF, juvenile justice facilities, and group homes to raise awareness and dispel myths surrounding trafficking. Jennifer has traveled and given presentations nationwide to educate thousands of professionals and the public. Currently she is a mother, professional trainer, and a manager of an anti-trafficking program in New York. In addition, Jennifer has a bachelor’s degree in English from City College of New York.

Ashante Taylorcox


Ashante Taylorcox is a Queer, Licensed Counselor in the state of NJ, 2021 Echoing Green Fellow and the Founder and Executive Director of You Are More Than Inc. YAMT is a survivor-led, survivor-run non-profit organization in the state of NJ aimed at supporting marginalized survivors of commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking by empowering them within mental health, education and financial sectors of aftercare support.Ashante has an extensive history of serving the survivor community as not only an advocate in the field but also as a survivor leader both through lived and professional experience. Over the last seven years, Ashante has worked to create safer environments within the survivor community by improving support services for adult survivors, particularly within mental health settings. Through community collaboration, Ashante has invested in the survivor community through direct service work, fundraising initiatives, curricula development, and training providers that provide direct services and clinical-specific support.
